Interesting food fact

The “Hawaiian” pizza was invented in Canada, not Hawaii. In 1962, Greek-Canadian restaurateur Sam Panopoulos created it in Chatham, Ontario, topping a pie with canned pineapple and ham for that sweet & salty hit, and named it “Hawaiian” after the pineapple brand on the can.

Edmonton's culinary scene is thriving, with the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market at its heart.

For decades, its local-first philosophy has championed vendors who make, bake, or grow everything they sell.

This ethos has inspired a wave of innovative restaurants across the city.

From authentic Mexican at Marlo to refined Italian from Daniel Costa's Olia Ristorante, Edmonton's palate is transforming.

The farm-to-table movement is a cornerstone, seen at popular spots like RGE RD.

This passion extends to a booming craft beer scene, anchored by the breweries on the popular "Happy Beer Street."

Large-scale events like Taste of Edmonton further celebrate the city's diverse and growing food culture, proving Edmonton is a true culinary destination.
