Edmonton’s sky will light up with a total lunar eclipse, known as a blood moon,on March 3, 2026.
Skywatchers can catch the moon transformed with a brilliant red glow, with the eclipse beginning at 1:44 a.m. and peaking during the total phase at 4:04 a.m. for 58 minutes.
The full event, including all partial phases, wraps up by 7:20 a.m.
TELUS World of Science hosts a free public viewing in Coronation Park starting at 2:00 a.m., with telescopes available for all.
Experts from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will help guide guests through the celestial show.
Dress warmly for the chilly -5°C weather, and keep in mind the event relies on clear skies.
If clouds roll in, several online platforms will stream the eclipse live, ensuring everyone can witness this captivating astronomical event.
