The historic corridor, long known as the “Avenue of Champions,” is shedding its outdated sports theme for a vibrant new identity rooted in food and culture.
This community-led revitalization is turning 118th Avenue into the city’s most exciting culinary destination.
The area now boasts an incredible mosaic of authentic global flavours, with celebrated Somali, Ethiopian, Vietnamese, and Eastern European restaurants leading the charge.
This shift from a neighbourhood overcoming a tough reputation is powered by decades of grassroots efforts from groups like Arts on the Ave and the local business association.
While challenges remain, the spirit of resilience is strong.
