Sweet Treats Festival in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Discover unique experiences with Old Strathcona events and the Edmonton food festival

The Sweet Treats & Latte Festival has returned to Old Strathcona, offering Edmontonians a delightful escape from the winter chill. Running from February 12 to 22, 2026, this beloved event invites locals and visitors alike to indulge in specialty drinks and desserts crafted by over 40 participating businesses.

This year's festival boasts an impressive lineup, with 18 new participants, including seven establishments that have recently opened their doors. Among the newcomers are Fuwa Fuwa Pancakes, known for their fluffy Japanese-style pancakes, and PACT Coffee & Baked Doughnuts, offering a unique combination of artisanal coffee and freshly baked treats. These additions reflect the dynamic growth and diversity of the Old Strathcona food scene.

Festival-goers can look forward to an array of delectable offerings, from rich lattes and hot chocolates to gourmet cookies and ice cream. Notably, some venues are catering to canine companions with dog-friendly treats, ensuring that every member of the family can partake in the festivities.

To enhance the experience, the Old Strathcona Business Association has introduced a festival passport. Participants can collect stamps by purchasing featured items at different locations. Accumulating five or more stamps enters attendees into a draw for prizes, including gift cards to local businesses. This initiative not only adds an element of fun but also encourages exploration of the neighborhood's diverse culinary landscape.

The festival's timing is strategic, coinciding with Valentine's Day and the Family Day long weekend. This scheduling aims to boost foot traffic during a typically slower season, providing a much-needed economic uplift to local businesses. In previous years, the festival has generated significant economic impact, reinforcing its role as a vital community event.

Beyond the culinary delights, Old Strathcona has recently undergone enhancements to its public spaces. The addition of new parklets, bistro tables, benches, and bike racks along Whyte Avenue has transformed the area into a more inviting and pedestrian-friendly environment. These improvements provide festival attendees with comfortable spots to relax and enjoy their treats, further enriching the overall experience.

The Sweet Treats & Latte Festival is more than just an opportunity to satisfy one's sweet tooth; it's a celebration of community, local businesses, and the vibrant culture that defines Old Strathcona. Whether you're a longtime resident or a first-time visitor, this festival offers a unique and enjoyable way to experience one of Edmonton's most cherished neighborhoods.
